Dr Joanna Boehnert is Lecturer in Design at Loughborough University where she is co-leader of the Responsible Design Research Group. She is also a Research Fellow at CUSP (Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity) and co-convenor of the DRS-Sus-SiG (Design Reseach Society’s Sustainability Special Interest Group). Her research takes an expansive transdisciplinary approach to design theory and responsible design practice. Her publications include Design, Ecology, Politics: Toward the Ecocene (Bloomsbury, 2018). With the Ecocene concept she links social and environmental justice as a foundation for transformative design practice with potential to contribute to cultural, social, political, economic and technological transitions.
